HOW TO BECOME NRSB-CERTIFIED
Prior to certifying with the NRSB, you will need to ensure that you are following all regulations in the state(s) in which you will be performing radon services – some state also have licensing requirements. We advise you to check the state radon representative for current information. The following link will take you to a US map, where you can find the links to the State programs: https://gispub.epa.gov/radon
NRSB Certification ensures that you are meeting the current national radon standards. Licensing is done by the State, not by the NRSB. However, many states that require a license to operate in their state, accept NRSB Certification as a requirement for their license.
Here is a simple check list for INITIAL NRSB certification:
- Complete an NRSB-approved initial course. The list of approved initial courses for Measurement can be found at this link: https://nrsb.org/courses/initial-courses-for-measurement ; the list of approved initial courses for Mitigation can be found at this link: https://nrsb.org/courses/initial-courses-for-mitigation.
- Submit a copy of the certificate of completion for this course with the initial application.
- Take and pass the NRSB exam for your desired certification: Radon Measurement Technician (RMT), Radon Measurement Specialist (RMS) or Radon Reduction Specialist (RRS). The link for ordering and scheduling these exams is: https://nrsb.org/exams/digital-exam-information/
